June 2022 BAC board meeting

This month’s board meeting is on Wednesday, June 8th. All BAC board meetings are open for the public to join.

The meeting will be held as a hybrid meeting, both in-person and online or by phone. Meet in-person at the Sacred Heart Fellowship Hall, or on Zoom.

Free climate solutions movie screening & community discussion — this Tuesday

The unfolding climate crisis can seem overwhelming, especially when we feel isolated and powerless. When we work together, we can support each other and be most effective and impactful.

Join us at the Aladdin Theater on Tuesday, May 31st, at 7:00 PM, for a free screening of Project Drawdown’s “Climate Solutions 101” and “Drawdown’s Neighborhood” (30–45 mins). The video will be followed by a discussion with the goal of finding clear action steps we can take in our neighborhood to address climate change.

Spring plant pop-up this Saturday


Join us on Saturday for the return of our community plant pop up! We’ll have organic produce starts, Brew Dr. kombuchas, a raffle, guides for growing plants, coloring pages, and more! Do you have produce or plant starts you’d like to donate or swap? Let us know or bring them to the park day-of!

This a free or by donation event. Registration is optional, but encouraged! Registering will help us plan more accurately. Register online at https://bit.ly/BrooklynPlantsPDX.

May 2022 BAC general meeting — annual elections and bylaws proposal

This month’s BAC general meeting is on Wednesday, May 25th. Our May meeting hosts our annual board elections. All board seats are up for election every year. Additionally, we have some proposed amendments to the BAC bylaws to vote on. Please come and vote!

Bylaws proposal

The BAC convened a working group to review the BAC’s bylaws, which were last updated 15 years ago. The working group produced a set of recommended changes, which the BAC board has approved. Bylaws changes must be approved by the general membership to be accepted. Full details on the proposed changes are provided on the 2022 bylaws proposal page.

BAC community events this month

Neighborhood Cleanup & Haul-Away Day

Our annual cleanup & haul-away day has returned to its typical spring date, on Saturday, May 14. Clear out unwanted items, save yourself a trip to the dump, and recycle select materials.

OHA community meeting to discuss Bullseye Glass draft report

The Oregon Health Authority’s Environmental Health Assessment Program is hosting a virtual public community meeting on Tuesday, April 5th, 6:00pm to 7:30pm, to discuss the Bullseye Glass Public Health Assessment Draft Report.
