Beloved Brooklyn Artist and Gallery Owner Madeline Janovec Passes Away March 4th; Planned Exhibit and Art Show to Continue Through March 31st at 4504 SE Milwaukie Avenue.

The BAC has learned that our beloved and long-time Brooklyn artist Madeline Meza Janovec has passed away from cancer.  Friends and supporters of Janovec have pledged to keep her gallery open for the remainder of what was to be a month-long benefit art show entitled “FOCUS ON WOMEN”, and presented by the Oregon Women’s Caucus for Art in celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. This exhibit showcases the work of OWCA artists and invited guests in a variety of mediums, including paintings, photographs, and prints.  It will also celebrate the contributions of Janovec, OWCA’s founder.

The Oregon Women’s Caucus for Art, a chapter of the national caucus, which was formed in 1972 to support women artists, was formed in 1987 mainly through the efforts of Madeline Janovec who has been the guiding force of the chapter for almost 25 years.
