Nestled in the heart of Portland’s Brooklyn neighborhood, the Brooklyn Community Garden (BCG) is more than a place to grow plants—it’s a thriving hub of community, sustainability, and education. Located at the corner of SE Franklin St and SE McLoughlin Blvd, our garden provides stunning views of downtown Portland and the Willamette River, offering a serene retreat for neighbors to connect with nature and each other.
At BCG, we host more than 30 garden plots, including native plants and shared berry bushes, fostering a greener Brooklyn while providing opportunities for members to cultivate vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Beyond gardening, we regularly host work parties, community meetings, and educational workshops to deepen our shared knowledge and strengthen bonds among our members.
How You Can Join
Neighbors can become part of this vibrant community by renting a plot for the year/gardening season. If no plots are available, you can join our waitlist. New plots are assigned at the start of the gardening season, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
Our Philosophy
BCG is built on a foundation of shared responsibility and collective effort. As a member, you’ll contribute to the garden through volunteer hours, maintaining your plot, and supporting communal tasks. Together, we strive to create a garden that is as much about growing community as it is about growing plants.
