BAC Wins Grant for SE 9th Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Mural and Landscaping Facelift!

On August 16, SE Uplift’s Graffiti Abatement Community Grant Selection Committee chose the BAC’s “Brooklyn Pedestrian Bridge Mural, Landscaping Facelift and Graffiti Cleanup Kit Project” for funding in the amount of $2,046.

BAC plans to involve local stakeholders, including schools, merchants, and artists in our effort to transform the drab concrete bridge into a colorful gateway for our neighborhood, and convert the landscaped areas on both sides of the bridge into an attractive sanctuary for bus, bike, and walking commuters, with a patio, benches, bike racks, and other amenities.

We’ll be seeking volunteers and community partners, including the City of Portland, local merchants and professionals, and students to help provide planning, painting, labor, and materials.  To get involved contact mike@brooklyn-neighborhood.org. Huge thanks go out to SE Uplift for endorsing our vision for a more vibrant and useful bridge area in our neighborhood!
